Pasture, Rangeland, and Forage (PRF) is a Rainfall Index policy. A PRF policy protects a producer if the average rainfall for the year was below the area average, triggering a loss. The purpose of a PRF policy is to help offset costs in the event that pastures are not producing to the needs of the rancher. The PRF policy is based on the area grid, and the grower then choses 2-5 intervals throughout the year that they would like coverage for.

Coverage is available under PRF from two crop types: Grazing and Haying.

The sales closing date and the acreage reporting date are December 1 preceding the start of the crop year. The contract change date for all stares is August 31.
